Projects ranging from new sidewalks in the village of Endeavour to a new community centre in the town of Kinistino are receiving funding from the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan.
On Thursday, investments in 55 infrastructure projects across the province were announced by the two levels of government.
The feds are kicking in more than $21.2 million, with the province adding more than $16.4 million. The recipients of the funding are adding $12.5 million to the total.
The federal funds are coming from the COVID-19 Resilience Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
A number of the projects involve improvements to sidewalks, pathways and bike trails, while other plans call for the rehabilitation or replacement of rinks, community centres, libraries, fire halls and town offices.
There also are projects calling for the installation of solar panels on municipal buildings in a number of communities.
In Regina, the Saskatchewan Science Centre is to undergo renovations and upgrades to its exhibits, flooring, bathrooms and public areas. The price tag on that project is $2.9 million.
“This project will be transformational for the Science Centre,” CEO Sandy Baumgartner said in a media release.
“A renewed space and exhibits will be critical to a successful future for the Saskatchewan Science Centre, allowing us to continue to inspire the province’s youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.”
The City of Regina also is to receive around $2.6 million for the installation of permanent barriers to protect bus drivers and the installation of self-securement systems for mobility devices on 66 city buses.
