Thousands more doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as Saskatchewan once again had no new deaths due to the virus and the number receiving inpatient care in hospital is down.
The last time a death was reported was on Friday. As for the number of people receiving inpatient care in Saskatchewan hospitals, there are now 156. A week ago, on May 3, there were 174.
As for vaccination numbers, 71 per cent of those over the age of 40 have received a first dose. Sixty-one per cent of those 30 and over have received their first dose. Fifty-one per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
Vaccine eligibility is now at 29 years and older.
There were 9,124 doses of COVID-19 vaccine given in Saskatchewan since the last update, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 527,257.
Those new doses were administered in the Saskatoon (4,019), Regina (1,280), central-east (953), north-central (596), northwest (519), southeast (516), south central (316), southwest (292) northeast (170), central-west (64), far northwest (42), far northeast (nine), and far north-central (one) zones. There were 347 doses administered to people whose hometowns are being determined.
On Monday, there were 147 new cases, with the largest number of those in Saskatoon at 43. Regina recorded 35.
The daily caseload is the lowest since March 18, when there were 115 reported. However, there were only 2,507 tests processed Sunday.
The other zones to report cases were the far northwest (two), northwest (11), north-central (nine), northeast (six), central-east (eight), southwest (10), south-central (11) and southeast (nine). The hometowns of three new cases are to be determined.
Saskatchewan has had a total of 43,288 cases. Recoveries total 40,645 and there are 2,141 cases considered active.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 204 or 16.7 new cases per 100,000.
Saskatoon has the largest number of patients receiving inpatient care at 56 with another 13 in intensive care. Regina is at 41 with another 17 in ICU.
