Four men between the ages of 26 and 55 died of drug overdoses recently, with three losing their lives on the same day in different locations in Regina.
Regina police say three of the men died on Saturday. Another one lost his life on Monday. Their ages were 26, 28, 45, and 55.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service and police continue to investigate the deaths.
“The Regina Police Service wants to remind Regina citizens that drug overdoses in our city continue to ravage some of our most vulnerable citizens, even when this issue isn’t top-of-mind for everyone,” a new release reads.
The release was sent out to remind people they can call 9-1-1 for help if they are with someone who is experiencing an overdose and they don’t have to worry about being charged criminally for drug possession.
Those who might be concerned about experiencing or witnessing an overdose can access Naloxone kits.
Signs of an overdose include slow or no breathing, gurgling, gasping or snoring, clammy, cool skin and blue lips or nails.
The Regina Police Service also explains what else is being done to address overdoses in the community, which includes supplying patrol officers with Narcan, calling for more supports for those dealing with addictions, changes in legislation to protect those reporting drug overdoses and more public education.
