More than half of the drivers issued licence suspensions near Craven and Regina Beach last weekend were allegedly impaired by drugs.
Last Friday, officers with the Southey and Lumsden RCMP detachments, Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services and Saskatchewan Highway Patrol were on Highway 20 just north of Craven, and on Highway 54 near Regina Beach on Saturday.
Those officers did 71 tests for impairment. Twenty drivers had their licences suspended for impairment. A dozen of those were for drug impairment while the other eight were for alcohol.
One person was arrested for impaired driving. Two were arrested for driving while prohibited. Twenty-three vehicles were impounded.
SGI’s May Traffic Safety Spotlight focuses on catching those who choose to drive impaired.
