A soggy May long weekend in Saskatchewan has come to an end, but when will the rain taper off?
Keane Kokolsky with Environment Canada said it’ll be this afternoon for Saskatoon, and a bit later on for the Regina area.
“Saskatoon should expect some periods of rain for the majority of the morning and into the afternoon. It looks like things will more or less clear, hopefully late this evening into the overnight hours,” he said.
“There’s also a risk of frost in the overnight hours … For Regina, (there are) similar conditions as well … (It’s) going to be clearing later today, into the evening hours.”
Those cooler temperatures have a forecasted overnight low of -3 C in Saskatoon and -2 C in Regina.
When it comes to rainfall totals, it was just under 1 1/2 inches for Saskatoon and just under a half-inch in the Queen City. Those totals were no match for the Birch Hills area, though. It was the wettest place in the province after this weekend with just under 2 1/2 inches of rain.
Areas like the Battlefords and in and around Meadow Lake received anywhere from just under 1 1/2 inches to around two inches of rain.
Rainfall warnings for the northwest were ended by Environment Canada just after midnight on Tuesday morning.
