The Rider Nation has that warm fuzzy feeling following the Vince Young news conference yesterday.
He said he’s not “big-headed” and told fans to give him a hug when they see him around the province. Based on one news conference, Young appears to have a personality that fans here can embrace.
GM and head coach Chris Jones also had encouraging words for fans when he said there will be an open competition for the starter’s job at camp, even with Young’s signing. The best quarterback will be the starting quarterback.
It was just 50 days ago that those same fans were enraged when Darian Durant signed with the Montreal Alouettes. That all seems to be forgotten with a former NFLer ready to wear the Green and White later this year.
Fans are content, for now. The discontent of losing Durant will return in a hurry if Young’s high-profile signing doesn’t pay off.
