Brothers from P.A. say business has ramped up since being on TV

Two brothers from Prince Albert couldn’t be happier as business is booming after their pitch on the reality TV show Dragons’ Den.

Dean and Donny Jackow were on the show to share their product, called the Braaamp.

“It s a three-in-one unit that we’ve been playing with here in Prince Albert for about five years” Donny Jackow told CJME. “I mean, we’re avid sledders, motocrossers and ATV’ers and we just wanted to make something that’s versatile, safe and easy for one person to use.”

He said it turns any quarter to one ton truck into a 14 ft tilting flat deck. There’s also an optional trailer package that can be assembled with no tools within a couple minutes.

The name Braaamp came from a mix of two words. People in motocross say ‘braaap’ as it sounds like a dirt bike when you give it throttle and being that it’s a ramp for outdoor toys, Donny said the mix of two words was a perfect match.

The show aired near the beginning of March. Donny said the phones have been ringing off the hook ever since.

“It’s been pretty wild,” he said. “The emails were out of control, the phones were out of control, I was actually here late Friday night till about 2 a.m. and then I’m taking Saturday off and then I’ll be back on Sunday to keep up with the flow.”

Donny added that dealers across Canada are asking to carry the product, and there’s even overseas manufactures trying to get involved.

“I mean we gotta be careful too, and I’m glad that we did get two dragons in our corner because just to have them as advisors is going to be pretty helpful.”

During the show, the brothers agreed to have Jim Treliving and Michele Romanow as their partners. They got the deal they came for which was $150,000 for 10 per cent of sales until paid and then 2 per cent of sales after.

KEEPING IT LOCAL

One thing that the brothers were firm about on the show was to keep it a family business and to help the economy up in Prince Albert.

“We both have young families, and there’s not much industry in Prince Albert,” said Donny. “There has been talk of this and that and the other but we need jobs here and we want to do manufacturing right here so you know our kids and their friends can have jobs.”

Donny has since put his focus on the Braaamp while his brother continues to lead their other business, Dee-Jacks Welding.
