Darrell Davis: Hadwin, Weir and Hughes need a 4th

Golf season is approaching. Honest.

We know this because Adam Hadwin, a pro golfer who was born in Moose Jaw, won a PGA tournament and has earned a berth in the Masters. Golf’s pre-eminent tournament starts April 6. It’s tough waiting for the azaleas, Amen Corner and Butler Cabin.

Hadwin is the third Canadian invited to this year’s Masters, the most Canadians in attendance since 1968. He joins Mike Weir, an Ontario native who won the 2003 Masters, and MacKenzie Hughes, another Ontario guy who won a PGA qualifying event last year.

With Brooke Henderson consistently challenging for wins on the LPGA Tour, Canadian golf has never looked stronger.

For the last few seasons, Saskatchewanians have been waiting for Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet to make his big move. DeLaet qualified for the 2014 Masters. He’s currently 132nd in world rankings.

With only the top 50 getting invitations, DeLaet needs to win a tournament pretty quickly if he wants to form a Canadian foursome next month in Augusta, Georgia.
