12:00 – Judy Ferguson, Saskatchewan’s provincial auditor, says critical incidents in healthcare – that means any event that resulted in or had the potential to cause serious harm or death to a patient – could be underreported, and the Ministry of Health needs to do a better job to learn from them in order to improve patient safety. Ferguson found gaps in the reported data, more incidents reported to Health Canada than to the provincial ministry, and other concerning issues. Ferguson says the number of critical incidents is trending upward, and she joins Mike Couros to tell us more.
