Mystery solved.
It turns out the 41-foot-tall windmill reported stolen from a farm in Vibank wasn’t stolen at all. According to the RCMP, the structure “was the victim of a non-criminal misunderstanding and all parties involved are working toward getting it to its rightful home.”
The Mounties say the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network helped answer the question of what happened to the windmill. Sgt. Ryan Case of the Indian Head detachment sent a request for information out on the network and, within a day, three tips had been received and the case was solved.
“The Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network is a very valuable tool because it allows us to send information or requests out quickly to the public — and it goes right to their phones,” Case said in a media release.
“This is a good example of how members of the public can assist with police investigations. The tips on this one helped conclude this file, which ended up having a happy ending.”
