There won’t be any charges filed after a collision between an unmarked police vehicle and a pedestrian in Regina on May 28.
The 48-year-old pedestrian was sent to hospital with minor injuries after the crash, which happened in the 3000 block of Fourth Avenue at about 12:45 a.m.
On Friday, police said the man was crossing Fourth Avenue and, “distracted” by a marked police car in the vicinity, didn’t see the unmarked police vehicle coming eastbound on Fourth.
“The pedestrian was not crossing in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing, when he was struck by the police vehicle,” the police said in a release.
The investigation determined there shouldn’t be charges against the driver, a constable with 10 years of service. While there was evidence the pedestrian walked into the path of the vehicle when it wasn’t safe to do so — a violation of the Traffic Safety Act — police decided not to charge him.
