The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced a bevy of roster moves Monday, including retirements of two players who were poised to become contributors in 2021.
Defensive end Chad Geter and guard Braden Schram announced they are hanging up the cleats ahead of the 2021 CFL season.
Geter played in 26 CFL games in his career β 24 with the Roughriders and two with the Montreal Alouettes. He spent the 2018 season with the Roughriders and split 2019 between Montreal and Saskatchewan.
During his career, he recorded 27 defensive tackles, 20 special-teams tackles and six sacks.

Schram was taken 13th overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round of the 2017 CFL draft.
The product of Manning, Alta., spent one year with the Tiger-Cats before joining Saskatchewan for the next two years. He dressed for 13 games with the Roughriders.
The team also announced a few signings, including the 17th overall pick in this yearβs CFL draft.
Wide receiver Terrell Jana was taken in the second round by the Riders.
The Vancouver product left the University of Virginia 12th all-time in career receptions (123) and 17th in career receiving yards (1,481).
The Riders also signed kicker Henry Nell, whom they took in the third round (23rd overall) in the 2021 global draft.
The kicker from South Africa began kicking in North America in 2018. He has played in the Indoor Football League and National Arena League.
The Green and White also signed free-agent wide receiver Ricardo Louis.
The Miami product was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2016 NFL draft. He spent three seasons with the Browns, playing in 32 games and making 45 receptions for 562 yards.
In 2019, Lewis signed with the Miami Dolphins and spent most of 2020 there as well.
He spent four seasons at Auburn University, recording 98 receptions for 1,338 yards and eight touchdowns and adding 578 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He was teammates with current Riders cornerback Nick Marshall, who played quarterback for the Tigers, and wide receiver Sammie Coates, who signed with the Riders in December.
The team announced it had released two global players β offensive lineman Rene Brassea and receiver Max Zimmermann β along with defensive lineman Mathieu Breton and linebacker Blair Smith.
Single-game tickets on sale July 5
Fans now know when they can start lining up to get their hands on 2021 Riders tickets.
With the province announcing all restrictions will be lifted July 11, the Riders are ready to welcome back 33,000 fans to Mosaic Stadium.
Single-game tickets are to go on sale online on July 5 at 10 a.m. Season tickets are on sale now through Sunday.
