After being cancelled last year, Shake The Lake is to return in August.
The buildup to the event on the grounds of the Conexus Arts Centre will look a little bit different this year, according to the Centre’s CEO, Neil Donnelly.
“We are finally kind of getting back in business here and we’re happy to announce a new sort of project for this summer,” Donnelly said. “We’re doing some outdoor events and we’re really looking forward to it
“We will take our setup and we will expand it for four or five weekends to do a number of different events.”
The first show at the Brandt Community Stage will kick off less than a week after the final restrictions are eased in the province.
“We can normally do about 4,000 or 5,000 people out there. We are limiting capacity to 2,000 for this so there’s going to be lots of room for people to space out,” Donnelly said.
“I think it’s going to be a good way to get people coming back getting out, getting normalized to being in crowds and being with with their friends and and gathering in a safe way outdoors.
“We are really hoping it brings the community back together again and we are really thankful to be doing it.”

Free tickets to several of the events that will be held at the Brandt Community Stage will be given out to health-care workers, first responders, teachers and frontline employees at grocery stores and pharmacies who worked throughout the pandemic.
Those tickets will be distributed through a variety of means, including registration at the Conexus Arts Centre’s Facebook page, through specific media partners and directly through employers.
Tickets will be available for sale starting at 10 a.m. and can be found by clicking here.
