A 1983 championship remains the only national title for the University of Saskatchewan men’s hockey team.
Four goals by New Brunswick’s Cam Braes led the host Varsity Reds to a 5-3 win over the Huskies in the University Cup final.
Braes opened the scoring for New Brunswick, Connor Gay put the Huskies on the board to even the score in the first period.
The Varsity Reds would add three unanswered goals, including two more from Braes before the Huskies could find an answer. Jordan Fransoo made it a two-goal game into the third period.
In the third, Kohl Bauml converted on the power-play to get things within a goal. But four minutes later Braes would add his fourth of the day and put the game out of reach.
