Saskatchewan is reporting one of its lowest totals of COVID-19 vaccinations in two months.
In its daily update Tuesday, the Ministry of Health said there were 2,419 doses administered in the latest reporting period. That included 467 first doses and 1,952 second doses.
That’s the lowest total of vaccinations done in a day since 961 were reported on June 21, when the province went to a 48-hour reporting period.
The last time vaccination numbers were that low for a 24-hour reporting period was May 25, when 2,339 shots were given.
The ministry also reported 27 new COVID cases and 47 recoveries. There weren’t any new deaths announced.
Vaccination update
To date, 1,307,065 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in Saskatchewan. As of Tuesday, 565,160 people — 55 per cent of those aged 12 and over in the province — have received two doses and are considered fully vaccinated.
The latest shots were given in the Saskatoon (761), northwest (571), Regina (548), north-central (149), southeast (67), central-east (59), far northwest (46), central-west (36), northeast (31), far northeast (25), south-central (23) and southwest (17) zones.
The hometowns of 86 recipients are still to be determined.
A look at the numbers
The latest cases were reported in the far northeast (10), far northwest (five), northwest (three), southeast (three), Saskatoon (two), central-east (two), Regina (one) and southwest (one) zones.
Two out-of-province cases were removed from Saskatchewan’s total, which now stands at 49,304.
So far, there have been 48,356 recoveries in the province. The active caseload is 375, and the seven-day average of new cases is 44.
There were 78 new lineage results reported for variants of concern. To date, 7,747 cases have had lineages identified by whole genome sequencing, with 6,952 Alpha (the United Kingdom variant), 408 Gamma (Brazilian), 377 Delta (Indian) and 10 Beta (South African) cases.
The number of COVID-related hospitalizations in the province remained steady at 57, with 47 receiving inpatient care and 10 in intensive care. Those patients are in the Regina (four), Saskatoon (four), northwest (one) and north-central (one) zones.
There were 1,234 tests done in the province on Monday, increasing the total to date to 937,084.
