Saskatchewan parks are returning to normal after wildfires caused evacuations on Friday.
On Monday, the province announced the reopening of campgrounds in Narrow Hills Provincial Park for Tuesday morning. This is after the fire situation improved over the weekend.
“We were able to reassess this morning and the campgrounds will be reopening,” said Becky Hoehn, acting executive director of park operations.
“We’re hoping to get everything up and running again. People who had reservations this week should visit our website and make sure that everything is the way they need it to be.”
Hoehn said she was still waiting for an update on a small campground in Lac La Ronge Provincial Park, as well as a few self-booking sights in Meadow Lake Provincial Park which were closed due to the fires.
The provincial fire ban was lifted Monday, however, Hoehen said there will still be burning restrictions in certain parks.
Hoehn said the wildfire situation is fluid so campers should check the status of their campgrounds before leaving home.
