A total of 51 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths were reported in the province Friday.
There were 8,204 new doses of the vaccine administered.
The Saskatchewan Government is encouraging residents to plan their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to be the best protected for upcoming events and milestones, such as travel plans and back-to-school. Delaying vaccination plans can allow for more community transmission, the government said in a release Friday.
Saskatchewan currently has 312 active cases, the first time the province has been in the 300s for active cases since 36o were reported on July 17, 2021.
A look at the numbers
Saskatchewan has seen 49,608 cases of COVID-19 to date.
Friday’s cases were reported in the far northwest (10), far north central (eight), far northeast (eight), northwest (seven), Regina (five), central east (three), Saskatoon (three), southeast (two), northeast (one) and south central (one). Three cases are listed as pending residence information and three cases have been reassigned to far north central. One case that was tested out-of-province has been added to Saskatoon.
There were two deaths reported today, marking 577 Saskatchewan residents who have died due to COVID-19. The deaths were a Regina resident in their 50s and a resident from the northeast in their 60s.
A total of 48,719 residents have recovered in the province.
In hospital, there are 64 COVID-19 patients with 54 receiving inpatient care: Saskatoon (18), Regina (15), northwest (eight), north central (six), south central (three), central east (one), far northwest (one), northeast (one) and southeast (one).
There are 10 patients in intensive care: Saskatoon (four), north central (three), Regina (three).
Thirty-four is the new seven-day average for new COVID-19 cases. In Saskatchewan, 950,698 tests for the virus have been processed. On Thursday, 1,654 tests were processed.
No new lineage results for variants of concern were reported Friday. There have been 505 Delta variants identified in the province.
Vaccination update
A total of 1,374,210 vaccines have been administered in Saskatchewan.
New doses of the vaccine reported today were administered to residents from Saskatoon (2,998), Regina (1,874), central east (659), north central (590), northwest (444), southeast (319), south central (254), southwest (227), northeast (200), central west (170), far northwest (110), far northeast (73) and far north central (10). Doses administered with zone of residence pending numbered 276.
Of Saskatchewan residents at or over the age of 12, 74 per cent have received their first dose and 61 per cent are fully vaccinated.
