The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
The City of Yorkton is about to get a boost to the economy as Grain Millers Canada Corp. (GMCC) is investing $100-million in the second phase of a new mill.
The investment of the new project is expected to create 25 new permanent jobs. 110 construction and engineering jobs will also be created during the building phase.
“We’ve operated in Saskatchewan for 25 years,” said Terry Tyson, Director of grain procurement for GMCC. He went on to say that Yorkton is in the heart of oat country and that the location is perfect for the continual growth of the milling business.
The project will add 80,000 metric tonnes of oat product production capacity at the mill. The company expects the new phase to be up and running in the later part of 2018.
