It wasn’t the best weekend for COVID in Saskatchewan.
A total of 885 new cases were reported Friday (258), Saturday (370) and Sunday (257), bringing Saskatchewan’s total of COVID cases since the pandemic started to 53,875 since March 2020. These totals are as of Monday morning.
Saturday’s jump of 370 is the highest daily total since Jan. 15, 2021.
Saskatchewan’s active caseload now sits at 2,065. This growing total hasn’t reached 2,000 since May. 16, 2021. Saskatchewan’s 7-day-average also increased drastically, going from 141 one week ago to 225 as of Sunday.
641 cases are now active in Saskatoon, leading the way regionally in the province. Regina has 117, while the North Central region — which includes Prince Albert — is second regionally in the province with 297.
Three new deaths since Friday pushed those totals to just shy of 600 since March 2020 with 598.
108 are in hospitals across Saskatchewan, including 25 in intensive care.
Of those 108 individuals, 77 are not fully vaccinated, while 31 are fully vaccinated.
From Friday to Sunday, Saskatchewan gained 7,740 new vaccinations, including 4,716 first dose shots. According to Sunday’s figures, 693,723 Saskatchewanians are now fully vaccinated.
75.6 per cent of all residents, 12 and up, have received their first dose. 67.2 per cent are fully vaccinated.
