The inaugural Busker Festival is set for Saturday in Wascana Centre.
Local artists are to perform live at various locations around the Wascana Lake walking path during the festival, which is to run from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There are to be 10 performers, including a jazz flutist, a fiddler and a rock singer-songwriter.
“We’re excited to welcome Regina families and residents to the first-ever Busker Festival at Wascana Centre,” Lauren Hope, the Provincial Capital Commission’s programming and visitor services supervisor, said in a media release.
“I’m particularly excited about the lineup of performers we have. Audience members will be able to enjoy a variety of musical performances including bluegrass, country and fiddle music.”
The scheduled performers are:
- Vinny Ve Hiss (aka Elisa Kuterbach), Saskatoon-based singer-songwriter, 11:30 a.m., Bandstand area;
- Artie Balkwill, solo blues artist, noon, Legislative landing;
- Tyler Gilbert, solo rock singer-songwriter playing original music, 12:45 p.m., Bandstand area;
- Marie-Veronique (MV) Bourque, singer and flutist playing jazz, 1:15 p.m., Broad Street Promenade;
- Amber Jack Fish, duo playing bluegrass, Métis, Celtic and Old Time music, 2 p.m., Bandstand area;
- Justin Sutton, Northern Alberta-based singer-songwriter, 2:15 p.m., Broad Street Promenade;
- Ellen Froese, solo artist performing folk traditional, rock ‘n’ roll classics and her own compositions, 2:30 p.m., Legislative landing;
- Kris Dominic Papa, Estevan-based soloist playing guitar music from the ’90s, 3:45 p.m., Broad Street Promenade;
- Micah Walbaum, soloist playing a range from country, folk and fiddle music, 3:15 p.m., Bandstand area; and,
- Nick Faye, Regina artist performing his own compositions and covers, 4 p.m., Legislative landing.
According to the PCC, the performers will be paid, but donations also will be accepted during performances.
