There are a few new reasons to dislike the National Football League.
Never mind if you’re from San Diego, St. Louis or Oakland. Those cities are losing their franchises so they should justifiably hate the NFL.
This time it’s the NFL’s Rules Committee taking more fun out of the game. The NFL has already made kickoffs obsolete and basically awards a victory to the team winning an overtime coin toss.
The league’s newest rule changes allow officials to eject players for overly aggressive hits. And players can no longer jump over the line of scrimmage to block field goals, something Seattle’s Kam Chancellor has done a couple of times. It was one of the NFL’s rarest – but most exciting – plays. It’s been banned because somebody might get hurt – in a football game. Imagine that!
