Fitness fanatics soon can get in their workouts in Wascana Centre.
The Provincial Capital Commission on Friday announced the construction of two permanent outdoor fitness stations in the park.
One that already has opened is located beside the Wascana Skate Plaza, across the street from Candy Cane Park. The other, which is to open in the spring, will be on the north side of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.
“The outdoor fitness equipment stations are significant additions to Wascana Centre that will provide new, free opportunities for health and wellness in the heart of our capital city,” Don McMorris, the minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission, said in a media release.
Each station includes up to nine pieces of equipment that use the weight and resistance of the user to power the workout.
The equipment at the station beside the skate plaza is Healthbeat plyometrics, Healthbeat assisted rowing and push-up, Fitcore extreme rope climb, Healthbeat cardio stepper, Fitcore extreme over-under bars, Fitcore extreme wheel bridge, Healthbeat chest and back press, Healthbeat parallel bars, Healthbeat pull-up and dip, and Healthbeat ab crunch and leg lift.
The exercise equipment at the station near the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre is to include Healthbeat assisted rowing and push up, Fitcore extreme rope climb, Fitcore extreme angled balance beam, Fitcore extreme peg bridge, Healthbeat elliptical, Healthbeat chest and back press, Healthbeat parallel bars, Healthbeat ab crunch and leg lift and Healthbeat pull-up and dip.
The stations cost $200,000 to build.
Those who use the equipment should bring disinfectant wipes or hand sanitizer to use.
