With just a few days to go until the doors officially open, teams are right in the thick of preparing for Agribition.
“(We) spend way more time getting ready for Agribition than we do actually putting on the show, but that’s OK. That’s what we’re here to do, and it’s actually kind of fun — it means Agribition’s getting close,” said Chris Lane, CEO of the show.
The teams have been taking over the Evraz Place buildings one by one, according to Lane, turning them over to show spaces, exhibition spaces and barns.
“Setting up a lot of panels, a lot of pens, making sure all the right supplies are in there and doing that as we go along,” explained Lane.
Screens, lights and sound systems are going up for the show ring in the International Trade Centre. The Brandt Centre is being turned into a rodeo arena as well.
The show in 2020 was supposed to be the 50th edition, but it had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so this year will be celebrated as the 50th. Lane said they’re all excited about that.
“We’ve got two years of pent-up excitement and demand here at Agribition and, I think, within our exhibitor community,” said Lane.
The doors for the show open at 10 a.m. Monday and everything kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 10:30 a.m. Lane said that thanks to a partnership with CN and because of the 50th anniversary, admission on Monday will be free.
