The second John Paddock era began with a win.
Paddock, who coached the Regina Pats for four WHL seasons before handing the reins to Dave Struch in 2018, returned to the role Thursday when Struch was fired. Paddock had been serving as the Pats’ general manager and vice-president of hockey operations.
On Saturday, in Paddock’s first game back behind the bench, Regina downed the host Moose Jaw Warriors 4-2.
The Pats snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 7-10-0-0. The Warriors fell to 7-10-0-1.
Logan Nijhoff, Borya Valis, Tanner Howe and Cole Carrier scored for the Pats, who got 42 saves from Matthew Kieper.
Logan Doust and Brayden Yager had the Warriors’ goal.
In Swift Current on Saturday, Isaac Poulter’s 32-save shutout helped the Swift Current Broncos down the Saskatoon Blades 3-0.
The Blades’ third straight loss dropped their record to 11-7-1-0.
Mathew Ward, Raphael Pelletier and Josh Filmon had goals for the Broncos (6-9-2-1).
