After the pandemic took away the CFL season in 2020, it all comes down to one game to decide a champion.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be playing the game on their home turf at Tim Hortons Field. Standing in their way are the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who will look to defend their Grey Cup from 2019.
Oddly enough, it’s a rematch of 2019, when the Blue Bombers ended their 29-year championship drought with a 33-12 win over Hamilton.
Both teams are playing their best football at the right time.
Hamilton defeated Montreal in the East Division semifinal 23-12 before going on the road to sink the Toronto Argonauts 27-19 in the East final. The win on the road punched the Tiger-Cats’ ticket to the dance on home turf.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg finished the regular season with a dominating 11-3 record. The best team in the league earned a bye week, before squeezing by the Saskatchewan Roughriders 21-17 in the West Division final.
A sold-out crowd in Hamilton will watch the two teams battle it out for the prized trophy.
Hamilton’s own Arkells will host a live performance in the halftime show.
