8:30 – The Bank of Canada renewed its 2% inflation target Monday, and will aim to put more emphasis on employment while working to keep inflation low and stable. While mandate renewals have often been a rubber-stamp process in the past, the current inflation rate is sitting at 4.7%, an 18-year high, and many Canadians are worried about their financial futures. Ian Lee in the Sproutt School of Business at Carleton University joins Gormley to explain the Bank of Canada’s decision and share his financial outlook for the year ahead.

10:00 – Conservatives say uncertainty about the leadership of Erin O’Toole is creating deep fissures within the party. Calls for an early leadership review by Saskatchewan Senator Denise Batters saw her removed from the party’s national caucus, and party members say the party is being divided between those who want the early review and those who don’t. Tom Lukiwski, who served as a Conservative MP representing Saskatchewan ridings from 2008 to 2021, says O’Toole should call an early review himself. Lukiwski says the leadership review is a challenge O’Toole could easily win, and doing so would put the controversy over his continued leadership to rest. Lukiwski joins John to tell us why he thinks O’Toole should face his critics head-on.

11:00 – Does masculinity still have a place in modern society? Writing in National Review, Dan McLoughlin says yes. According to McLoughlin, “… Our society’s goal in raising young men should neither be to stamp out their masculinity nor to fetishize masculinity for its own sake but to teach men to put masculinity to its proper uses.” McLoughlin joins John to discuss masculinity and its benefits in today’s society. Do you think masculinity is still valuable, or is our society evolving past the need for manly men? Call or text 1-877-332-8255 and let us know!

12:00 – The Regina Police are tracking a number of scams, which often victimize seniors who get overwhelmed by the aggressive warnings about fake warrants or fake stolen credit card data. Seniors are unlikely to be on social media or read news releases warning about scams on police websites, so officers are working hard to get the message out. Sgt. Kelley Berting with Regina Police Commercial Crimes joins Gormley to explain how scammers target seniors and what can be done to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your money safe.
