Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan have fallen to their lowest level since late August.
The Ministry of Health said Wednesday there were 105 people with COVID in health-care facilities in the province, the fewest since there were 97 patients on Aug. 27.
But while the number of inpatient cases has fallen over the past month, the number of intensive care cases remains stagnant.
There were 33 people in Saskatchewan ICUs as of Wednesday. That number hasn’t been under 30 since it was 29 on Sept. 7.
The ministry also reported 62 new cases and 69 recoveries on Wednesday, with no deaths. The active case count dropped to 538.
A look at the numbers
The new cases were reported in the Regina (16), north-central (nine), northeast (nine), southeast (eight), Saskatoon (seven), central-east (four), far northwest (two), southwest (two), far northeast (one) and south-central (one) regions. The hometowns of three cases are pending.
The total comprised 31 people who were unvaccinated and 31 who were considered fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated group included 12 kids aged five to 11.
The seven-day average of new cases rose by two, to 56.
To date, there have been 81,961 cases reported in Saskatchewan and 80,482 recoveries.
There were 1,782 tests done in Saskatchewan on Tuesday, increasing the total to date to more than 1.3 million.
Vaccination update
The 1,194 vaccinations done in Saskatchewan in the latest reporting period included 690 first shots and 504 second shots.
To date, nearly 1.78 million shots have been given in the province, including 845,709 second shots.
The total includes 43,414 jabs for kids between the ages of five and 11, and 76,807 shots for children aged 12 to 17.
