Peg Leippi, the owner of Peg’s Kitchen, has died over a week after sustaining serious injuries as a result of a fall.
This is according to a Facebook post by the local business uploaded on Saturday.
Leippi had suffered serious injuries after a fall on the morning of Dec. 11, this is after she had tried to take her own life, according to her family.
Alyssa Leippi, Peg’s daughter-in-law, had spoken on the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Wednesday to advocate for mental health support in the aftermath of Peg’s fall.
“With COVID the last 18 months and operating a small business, she had a lot more stress on her without being able to function her business at full capacity,” Alyssa said. “We really focused on her mental health (and) we did attempt to get her some help through the hospital.
“Mental health is so important and we really just want people to reach out to someone if they’re struggling, or get help, or seek resources so that another family doesn’t have to experience what we’re experiencing right now.”

The post on Facebook says Peg passed away on Friday.
“It is with deep sadness for us to announce that Peg, our fearless leader, friend, mother and wife passed away last night,” it read. “Mom’s wish was to have her funeral be a really large party. In order to grant those wishes, we will be holding off having any service until the spring of 2022.”
Peg’s Kitchen will be closed on Monday as people mourn the loss.
A GoFundMe page has raised over $63,000 as of Sunday to support Peg’s family.
