A Regina police officer used a Taser on a 50-year-old man Saturday after he wouldn’t drop a knife he was holding.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers were called just before 8 a.m., to a house in the 1500 block of Garnet Street to help Regina Fire and Protective Services. Police were told a man inside had a torch and was setting off the fire alarms, but he wouldn’t leave the house or allow firefighters to enter.
The owner of the property let officers into the building and they found the man in an upstairs suite. He was holding a knife and wouldn’t drop it and, when he stepped towards officers, he was hit with a jolt from a Taser.
Officers found two more knives tucked into the man’s waistband after arresting him.
He made his first court appearance Tuesday.
