It has been a while since the Discovery Farm in Langham has seen crowds.
Show director Rob O’Connor told the Brent Loucks Show on Wednesday that the Discovery Farm — used to house the annual show — is planning to fill back up this upcoming July, with O’Connor announcing the return of an in-person event.
“We’re going to have a show,” he said.
“I think we’ve had enough time off due to the pandemic, and we can have a show again. So we’ve gone into full flight of planning. All the applications are coming in from all the different exhibitors. We’re certainly on our way.”
O’Connor’s Ag in Motion went to remote delivery for both the 2020 and 2021 shows. The Discovery Farm typically turns into a miniature Saskatchewan city for the event, which is housed just west of Langham on Highway 16.
In 2020, it was a five-day digital program. In 2021, six one-day events were offered.
“Still, (we) were able to get that message out, just in a different way,” O’Connor said.
When it comes to being back outdoors, O’Connor said the atmosphere is different during the pandemic. He cited successes by events such as Agribition and large sporting events as other events that brought concerns, yet a spike wasn’t experienced in Saskatchewan.
“You have an outdoor atmosphere, it has a different effect than indoors. With Ag in Motion, we have such a large space — it’s 100 acres. Things are spread out. I’m pretty sure and pretty confident we can have a very safe event and still have a very exciting and fun one as well,” O’Connor said.
The show is to kick off on July 19 and run until July 21.
