A 61-year-old woman has been charged with theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000 in connection with what police called “financial irregularities” at a non-profit organization in Regina.
In a media release Tuesday, the Regina Police Service said its Financial Crime Unit started an investigation in July after it was contacted by the community-based organization, which reports say was Mobile Crisis Services.
“The organization had undergone some changes in accounting and a transition to a new financial management system in March 2021,” the police release said. “In that transition and accompanying audit, there emerged a pattern of financial irregularities and the matter was turned over to the Regina Police Service.”
Police didn’t say how much money was taken.
The woman was located by police in B.C., and given a summons to appear in Regina Provincial Court.
