Another convoy of trucks is to be in Regina on Saturday, when a gathering is planned at the Legislative Building.
The first group of trucks arrived in the city Monday as part of a protest of COVID-19 vaccine mandates for the country’s truckers. That convoy left the area Tuesday morning and is expected to arrive on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Saturday.
According to the Regina Police Service, the trucks headed into the Queen City on Saturday are scheduled to arrive at 11:30 a.m. They’re to travel east from the Regina Bypass on Ring Road, turn north on Albert Street, and head to the Legislative Building for a gathering that’s slated to begin at 1 p.m.
“A parade permit has been issued, and the Regina Police Service Traffic Safety Unit has been in contact with organizers,” the police said in a media release. “Expect police to be present and monitoring to ensure safety for all users of our roadways.”
Police said there could be a lot of traffic as the trucks leave the legislative grounds in the afternoon, so residents are advised to avoid the area if they don’t want to encounter delays.
