The Regina area was among a number of regions in Saskatchewan put under a blowing snow advisory Thursday morning.
Areas around Estevan, Weyburn, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Yorkton, Melville, Humboldt and Wynyard also were covered by the advisory.
Environment Canada said southeastern Saskatchewan is expected to get two to five centimetres of fresh snow Thursday night. Winds out of the northwest that are to gust to up to 60 kilometres per hour will combine with that snow to create reduced visibilities overnight and into Friday morning.
“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility,” the advisory said. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”
As well, extreme cold warnings were in place in several northern regions of the province.
