The Kindersley RCMP has released details of a standoff that occurred in the city last week.
In a media release Wednesday, the RCMP said officers responded last Thursday at about 11:20 p.m., to a call of an armed robbery at a business in Eatonia.
Police were able to identify the suspect and his location — an apartment in the 100 block of Main Street in Kindersley.
On Friday at about 5:15 a.m., the roads around the apartment were blocked and residents were asked to avoid the area.
About four hours later, the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Program got into the apartment and arrested the man. A search found cash and a handgun.
The suspect, a 31-year-old man from Edmonton, was charged with robbery with a firearm for a criminal organization, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence, pointing a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a weapon contrary to an order.
He also was wanted on outstanding warrants.
The man is to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday.
