Regina Fire and Protective Services, the Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating after a man died in a fire early Thursday in the 2700 block of 10th Avenue.
According to a tweet from the fire department, a call came in just after 1:45 a.m., about a fire in a multi-family row house.
Crews had to deal with heavy smoke and fire, and several suites had to be evacuated while firefighters dealt with the blaze.
As firefighters extinguished the fire, they found a person dead in the house. Police officers at the scene were told about the body at about 2:15 a.m., and called for a coroner.
“Investigators are still working to confirm the identity of the deceased person, who is believed to be an adult male,” the police said in a media release. “Once his identity is confirmed, his next of kin will be notified of his death.”
