The Saskatchewan Roughriders want CFL fans to “Bring it to the Heartland” for the 2022 Grey Cup Festival in Regina.
The Roughriders revealed the theme of the festival Tuesday, saying in a media release the theme “reflects Saskatchewan as the heartbeat of the CFL, and the Canadian prairies as the heartland of Canada.”
The festival is to begin Nov. 15, with the 109th Grey Cup game to be played at Mosaic Stadium on Nov. 20.
“The Saskatchewan Roughriders and our incredible volunteer host committee are so excited to finally be able to host our first Grey Cup and Festival at Mosaic Stadium,” Roughriders president/CEO and festival co-chair Craig Reynolds said in the release.
“We all know there is no place like Saskatchewan for a once-in-a-lifetime football party, and we can’t wait to bring CFL fans together again this November.”
Saskatchewan last hosted the CFL’s championship game in 2013 at the previous version of Mosaic Stadium. The 2020 game was to be played at the current Mosaic Stadium, but that season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Regina subsequently was given hosting rights to the 2022 contest.
The Roughriders said details on festival events in Regina, Saskatoon and other centres will be released in the coming months.
Tickets to the 2022 Grey Cup game are to go on sale to the public in late spring. Roughriders fans looking to get seats to the league final can do so by buying season tickets on the team’s website.
