The R.M. of Torch River has declared a state of local emergency due to infrastructure failures.
The emergency was declared due to an influx of road failures which led to the closure of 22 rural roads in the community. A full list of the closed roads is available through the R.M. website.
R.M. officials said the state of emergency is meant to prevent possible harm to the health and safety of local residents.
Torch River Reeve Louise Nicklen said the state of emergency was declared due to road closures restricting access to many parts of the RM.
Nicklen said RM crews are hard at work repairing the damaged roads, and asked for patience while the work is completed. She would not speculate how long the state of emergency will last but said more updates will be released as the situation progresses.
