The RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina is set to reopen Friday after a three-month hiatus.
“We are excited to be reopening our doors to the public once again,” RCMP Heritage Centre CEO Tara Robinson said in a media release. “Our team has worked diligently to prepare to reopen and welcome guests back to experience all the RCMP Heritage Centre has to offer.”
Just before Christmas, the centre announced it was extending its winter shutdown by two months due in part to the possibility of a COVID-19 slowdown. The centre typically is closed in January to allow the RCMP Historical Collections Unit to clean or update exhibits.
This time around, the centre used the break to do maintenance, cleaning and restructuring.
To celebrate its reopening, the centre won’t charge admission Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Our free admission day will be full of wonderful experiences for youth, families and tourists including live demonstrations from a K9 Unit with the RCMP’s Police Dog Service,” Robinson said in the release.
“Guests will also be able to participate in a variety of other activities including scavenger hunts, guided tours, an opportunity to crack the case, and more.”
Starting Friday, the centre will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
