Police say a drug raid Friday in Regina sent three suspects scattering onto a fourth-floor balcony — and resulted in serious injuries for one when he fell from the balcony.
That suspect and two others, both of whom were bitten by a police dog, were taken to hospital after their arrests.
Regina police say the raid was conducted Friday on Little Pine Loop in the city’s northwest by members of the Regina Drug Unit, the Street Gang Unit, the SWAT team, and the canine and patrol units.
In addition to the three suspects who were hurt, three other men were arrested.
One, a 29-year-old from Toronto, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for a murder that occurred in Ottawa in May of 2021.
The other five men charged were a 30-year-old from Regina, a 34-year-old from Regina, a 28-year-old from Edmonton, a 26-year-old from Edmonton and a 27-year-old from Toronto.
During the bust, police found a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine, a loaded nine-millimetre handgun which had been modified to be fully automatic with an over-capacity magazine, a .45-calibre handgun with a full magazine beside it, about $55,000 in Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
