For the second time this month, a fire has broken out at Moose Jaw’s landfill.
On Monday, the Moose Jaw Fire Department got a call of a fire at the dump at about 9:50 p.m. Crews stayed on scene until around 2:50 a.m.
There wasn’t any damage reported to any equipment at the site.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the City of Moose Jaw reminded residents to not dispose of electronics or hazardous chemicals at the landfill and to not smoke or dispose of cigarettes at the site either.
On April 6, a fire started at the dump at about 8:30 p.m., and staff were able to extinguish it. A subsequent investigation determined that blaze was caused by a discarded lithium ion battery.
