Four days after a wicked snowstorm hit southeastern Saskatchewan, all of the people who lost power in the region have got it back.
In a media release late Thursday afternoon, SaskPower said crews were able to restore power just after 2 p.m. to the last of the customers in the area who were without electricity.
Some crews were sent back to their home districts, leaving behind a salvage operation for crews who remain in the area.
“SaskPower extends thanks to its customers for their patience and understanding as crews worked tirelessly to restore power,” the company’s release said.
“The damage sustained by this recent storm was substantial, and the warmth and support from the southeast has been greatly appreciated.”
The company said the lights went out for nearly 25,000 customers when the storm hit on the weekend. Crews managed to restore power area by area until the final customers were hooked up Thursday afternoon.
SaskPower said people in the region may experience what it called “short, planned outages” in the next few days as crews continue to make repairs to the system.
