The rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to some homes and businesses in the Regina area experiencing flooding.
Mike Payne of Restorex Disaster Restorations says there wasn’t one particular area being impacted Friday.
“It’s pretty spread (out),” he said. “Basically, where the rain is coming down, that’s where we’re going to get situations from.”
Payne mentioned the company had responded to about 12 calls from businesses and homes as of Friday morning. Payne says that wasn’t as bad as the company has seen in previous years.
“When we get rain spread over a long period of time, we don’t get as many situations in peoples’ homes and businesses, but we have experienced a lot of rain,” he said.
Payne added most of the situations staff deal with Friday were minor.
With this being the first big rainfall of the season, Payne provided some tips on how people can keep from being a victim of flooding in the future.
“No. 1 is any downspouts you have in your house, make sure they’re down,” he said. “Make sure your eavestroughs are clear and make sure you’re grading the dirt around your home.”
Payne also mentioned if people see flooding, it’s important to contact someone right away as opposed to waiting, in order to avoid further damage.
