RCMP in Beauval are on the hunt for a man who allegedly damaged the electronic monitoring device he was ordered to wear as part of a court-ordered 24-hour curfew.
According to RCMP, Vincent Roy was ordered to wear the monitor and abide by strict curfew conditions at a home in Beauval while waiting to answer charges including arson, assault with a weapon and committing an offence for a criminal organization. Those charges date back to April 25, RCMP said, and are still before the court.
On Monday, RCMP officers in Beauval were alerted by the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety after an electronic monitoring device was tampered with. Police said they found the damaged device within the home, but didn’t find Roy.
As a result, Roy is now a wanted man. A warrant was issued for his arrest on new charges of mischief and failing to comply with court-ordered release conditions, RCMP said.
Officers are now hunting for Roy, who police described as about six-foot-one in height, weighing 210 pounds.
Police urged the public not to approach Roy, and to report any information or sightings to the Beauval RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
