Ituna RCMP looking for 2 men, truck smashed through store

RCMP are on the hunt for two men who smashed their way into a convenience store.

On Friday, around 4:35 a.m. two men drove a stolen truck into the wall of Scully’s AG Foods in Ituna, Sask.

The men stole liquor and lottery tickets and then fled the scene.

Owner, Doug Scully said he thinks the damage from the truck smashing through the main entrance is upwards of $50,000. Scully added he wasn’t surprised by it, as in recent years it’s happened to neighboring communities.

“I’ve heard of people doing it (driving their truck through stores) before in surrounding towns and it kinda didn’t shock me too much,” he said. “The cleanup takes forever but it is what it is I guess.”

The community had an outpouring of support the next day to help with the cleanup process  Scully said, adding that it really goes to show how tight knit small communities are.

“Everybody works together,” he said. “There was 15-20 guys out helping yesterday putting the store back together. It’s still a good community and you know the community of mine here, the volunteers are amazing.”

RCMP say the truck driven by the two accused, a red 1994 GMC 1500, was located approximately ten kilometres south of Hubbard, Sask.
