Scott Moe’s brother was among about 30 people who were pardoned for traffic offences by the premier last month.
On May 19, Scott Moe signed an order-in-council granting clemency to a group of people who had been convicted of offences under the Traffic Safety Act.
Kris Moe was among that group. He had been convicted of driving through an amber light on Jan. 23, 2021, in Prince Albert.
The premier was not available for an interview and Kris Moe hung up on a Canadian Press reporter when called for comment.
A spokesperson for the premier’s office told CP that pardons are brought forward on the advice of justice officials and Scott Moe didn’t take part in any discussions in cabinet about last month’s order-in-council.
A Ministry of Justice spokesman told The Canadian Press that pardons for traffic offences are based on the recommendation of a police service or an RCMP detachment.
