People in Saskatchewan will soon be able to place their bets online.
The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) announced on Monday the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) will be the developer of an online gaming portal for casino games, as well as single-game sports betting.
BCLC’s PlayNow.com portal already operates in B.C. and Manitoba and will be customized for Saskatchewan with an expected launch sometime this fall.
“SIGA is very excited to bring the PlayNow online casino and sports betting experience to Saskatchewan,” SIGA president and CEO Zane Hansen said in a release.
“This online offering will integrate into our existing casino operations and will further enhance the entertainment options for SIGA’s and SaskGaming’s customers.”
The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and the province entered into an agreement in September, which enabled SIGA to bring online gaming to Saskatchewan. The agreement is the first of its kind in Canada and further strengthens the partnership between the FSIN and the province’s gaming sector.
Legislation was passed in August to legalize single-game betting in Canada. SIGA will be the official operator of the portal once launched.
