After a school year that saw teachers once again navigate a return to the classroom amidst COVID-19 uncertainties, the province is giving them its thanks.
In a release, the Saskatchewan government said it appreciates the “commitment and dedication to students that teachers and school staff offered throughout the 2021-22 school year.”
It said educators and staff in schools across the province performed their jobs with excellence by teaching and caring for their classes.
Education minister Dustin Duncan said he’s seen the “incredible work” being done in schools.
“They’ve found new and unique ways to make learning fun and they’ve provided the support students needed as we moved through a pandemic,” he said in the news release.
“Educators and those working in the education system have demonstrated their strong commitment to serving students and helping them to be their best self,” the release said.
The government is wishing teachers and school staff a good summer break.
More than 190,000 students are enrolled in schools funded by the province.
This comes as many school divisions in the province complain about funding shortfalls as they make up their budgets for next year.
