A 39-year-old man is facing a bunch of charges after a dangerous scene of events over the weekend.
On Saturday around 12:20 a.m., police say officers attempted a traffic stop on a City of Regina pickup truck near Arcola and Victoria Avenue.
It’s believed the vehicle failed to stop and police were able to determine it was recently stolen.
Police say the stolen truck accelerated to a high rate of speed eastbound on Victoria Avenue. Recognizing that the driver was not going to pull over and was operating at a dangerous speed, the officers pulled over to the side of the road in order to prevent a pursuit.
Moments later, the truck collided with another vehicle on Victoria Avenue near Embury Street.
The driver of the truck fled on foot and police attended to the driver of the other vehicle who was seriously injured.
That driver was extracted with the assistance of the fire department and EMS transported them to the hospital where the victim remains with serious injuries.
Police were able to find the 39-year-old suspect who had been driving the stolen vehicle.
He’s facing many charges including the dangerous operation of a vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and failing to stop after an accident. His first court appearance is on Monday.
