A 22-year-old woman is facing a list of charges after leading the RCMP on a chase in an allegedly stolen vehicle.
Shortly before midnight on Saturday, officers with the La Ronge RCMP detachment were on Highway 102 near Missinipe when they spotted a vehicle that was reported stolen from Southend. The driver did not stop when officers tried to pull her over, police said, and instead took off.
Police caught up with the vehicle again on Highway 2 south of La Ronge. According to the RCMP, when officers attempted a second traffic stop, the suspect “drove into oncoming traffic, forcing a police vehicle into the ditch.”
The officer inside the police vehicle wasn’t hurt, the RCMP noted.
Officers eventually boxed the vehicle in after the driver came to a dead end near Dore Lake, the RCMP said. The driver, a 22-year-old Prince Albert woman who was the only person in the vehicle, was arrested without any more trouble.
She’s now facing numerous criminal charges, including three counts of dangerous driving, two counts of fleeing police, a charge of obstructing a police officer, and a charge of possessing stolen property over $5,000.
