A 26-year-old Regina man is heading to prison in connection with Regina’s fourth murder of 2021.
Anthony Seon initially was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Lawrence Robert Godfrey of Vibank on March 7, 2021. On Wednesday in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench, Seon pleaded guilty to the lesser included offence of manslaughter.
He was handed a sentence of 10 years in prison. With credit for time served, his sentence amounts to 2,901 days.
Seon also was ordered to provide a DNA sample and was handed a lifetime firearms prohibition.
At around 4:20 a.m. on March 7 of last year, officers were sent to a home on St. John Street in the northeast part of the city, where they found a man hurt.
Paramedics responded, but the 45-year-old Godfrey was soon pronounced dead.
Seon was arrested the next day.
After Godfrey’s death, hundreds of people shared some of their memories of the man who spent 15 years with the Northgate Mall security team.
